Mitigation Plans

What is Mitigation Plans?

The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) has declared greenhouse gas emissions as a priority pollutant and subsequently can ask for pollution prevention plans also known as mitigation plans.

The South African Government has indicated that the development of Mitigation Plans will be a mandatory for some companies in the near future. The exact content of these requirement are still to be developed.

Promethium Carbon’s service

Promethium Carbon advises companies on how to develop effective approaches to reducing their Greenhouse Gas emissions which can be reported to DEA in a formal Mitigation Plan.  To support our work in this area, we have developed a standardised format for, and approach to, the development of Mitigation Plans, based on our view of what Government may require but also what would also be a practical approach at company level.
